The Parish Council has for some time been concerned about the quality of water in the River Wye, there being local and national concern about pollution from phosphates and others from farming and intensive poultry units on land adjacent to the river from its source to its mouth.

We were aware of local – and wider – initiatives to take measures to stop such pollution, but it appeared to the Parish Council that rather than each council probably duplicating the efforts of others, it would make more sense to form a group of councils to speak with one voice.  All the councils bordering the River Wye from Chepstow to Ross On Wye were thus invited to form the consortium which was formally re-created in March 2025 .

Member councils are:  Bridstow Parish Council, Chepstow Town Council, Goodrich & Welsh Bicknor Parish Council,  Hewelsfield & Brockweir Parish Council, Lydbrook Parish Council, Marstow Parish Council, Monmouth Town Council, Newland Parish Council, Ross On Wye Town Council,  Ruardean Parish Council, St Arvans Community Council,  Tidenham Parish Council, Trellech United Community Council, Whitchurch & Ganarew Parish Council, Walford Parish Council, Wye Valley Community Council
